Ernie is also survived by his brother Jake (Annette) Hendricks, twin brother Ed (Helen) Hendricks, brother Dave (Elvira) Hendricks, and sisters Nancy Hendricks and Ruth (John) Domaschenko. He also has numerous nieces and nephews on both his side, and Susan’s, that he loved so very dearly.
Ernie was predeceased by his mother and father, Jacob and Annie Hendricks.
Ernie was born in Coaldale, Alberta, on January 25th 1942, to Jacob and Annie Hendricks. Ernie grew up on a farm south of Grassy Lake, Alberta, and attended Chamberlain School there. He graduated from the AMHS in Coaldale, Alberta, and then attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where he graduated with a pharmacy degree.
Ernie moved to Lethbridge in 1968 to start his career as a Pharmacist. He spent his career employed at various pharmacies such as Shoppers Drug Mart, Lakeview Pharmacy, as well as Canadian Wholesale Pharmacy, as his last position before retirement. Canadian Wholesale Pharmacy was very near and dear to his heart as he was the lead in the opening of the new pharmacy, and managed it for many years.
Ernie had many interests. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, deep sea fishing, camping and travelling to a lot of amazing destinations with Susan, Ed and Helen. A lot of his hobbies were shared with his twin brother Ed, as well as with his best friend since grade 10, Bill Martens.
Ernie was an avid reader, and loved western books as well as non fiction adventure stories. He loved playing board games and specifically UNO with his grandkids, and also spent of lot of time working on some of the hardest puzzles out there. He loved spending so much time with his grandchildren, going on walks with his walking stick to the pond, playing in the shed, sleepovers, as well as a big dedication to attending their sports games, even with his physical struggles.
Ernie also loved to sit in his wheel chair on the deck, watching birds, while making his walking sticks and bird houses.
Ernie loved his home and his community, and was part of a Tuesday night Crib Club with many neighbours who had become friends. He loved them all. He was an extremely kind and caring man, and deeply loved by everyone who had the honour of knowing him.
Ernie will be sorely missed by many, but his spirit, kindness and generosity will live on through all of our memories, and he will continue to always be loved, and never be forgotten.
He loved and was loved by many.
According to Ernie’s wishes, there will only be a small private immediate gathering to celebrate his life.

Ernie was my first boss, he hired me as a snot nosed 16yr old kid to run deliveries for Shoppers Drug Mart at Centre Village Mall. Little did I know this would turn into a 35 yr career with Shoppers. Every coffee break he would want to "bush" to see who had to pay for what ever snack or drink we were getting. He always seemed to win so I asked him how he does it... he proceeded to show me his two headed coin. He was one of a kind and ill be missed.
Susan I am sorry to hear about Ernie’s passing, he was a great man.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Ernies family and also to all of his siblings (Jake, Ed, Dave, Nancy, Ruth). Our thoughts are with you all on your loss. Bob and Anne (Gross) Rushford
Sincere sympathy to the Hendricks family
My heart goes out to all his family during this difficult time . He was a great, smart and fun man . Always made you smile. Rest in peace ♥️
I met Ernie in 1984. I was working for Boyd's Pharmacy,(as his assistant)... and Ernie was the pharmacist for Lakeview Pharmacy. Boyd asked me to go to Lakeview to get some meds he was short of for a client. I was driving Boyd's Marsadese sport car...lol (business car he said.) He kept looking at the car outside the window...and then said... "Boyd must pay decent eh?" I just laughed. We met again here and there over med needed...it was ahabit bewteen orders not showing up . Then he became the Manager at Wholesale Pharmacy and our son was the store Manager... Funny 'cause Jim King Jr. 1st retail big job, was back room at Shoppers Drug Mart... and I was also there when Boyd sold to Shoppers Drug Mart ...I went with the building lol. So there is Ernie. He was always a friendly person, funny and polite. I just wish I had known he married Jason Carrier's Mom. I recall him saying he got married....~ and the bounce in his step was nice to see. Rest in Peace knowing you will always be remembered for the personality you shared. Pat King
Sorry to hear of Ernie's passing.
I was so sad to hear about Ernie. After I had my daughter and was going through postpartum, my sister-in-law and I used to walk over to Canadian Wholesale every day. We’d always stop and talk with Ernie, and his kind words and encouragement meant so much to me at that time. Later on, when he became a patient at the clinic where I work, he was still the same, always smiling, no matter what he was going through. My condolences to all of his family and friends. He was such a kind man.
