RAYMOND ENSIGN, loving husband of Wendy (nee Casson), dad to Cass and Bill (Lindsay) Scales and grampy to Reese and Austin, passed away suddenly in his home, on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 64 years.
Ray will be dearly missed by his brother Wayne, sister Faye, numerous nieces and nephews including Leanna, Micheal and Robin; Wendy's brothers and sisters, and their families; and close family friend Anne Kanyo.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, Wendy's parents, sisters Ellie, Mary, and Gloria, brother-in-law Ray Hendy, and sister-in-law Lorraine Conley.
Although Reese once pointed out that Grampy is only one letter from grumpy, she will always remember him with the 'a', and he will always be Captain Austin's Commander.
Ray was born July 14th, 1953 in Carmangay, Alberta to Eugene and Clara Ensign. Growing up, he lived in various communities in Southern Alberta, eventually settling in Lethbridge. Ray enjoyed being a delivery truck driver for several years. After suffering a back injury in 1983, Ray discovered his calling as a locksmith for Active Lock & Safe. He was very proud of the skills he developed, and the service he provided. Ray enjoyed the challenges his profession provided him. There wasn't a lock he couldn't open, or a key he couldn't cut.
A Come and Go Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
