MR. ENGELBERT H. AUER, beloved husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Auer of Lethbridge passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, Park Meadows Village on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Engelbert leaves behind his loving wife Elizabeth of 55 years. He also leaves behind his sons Henry, Hubert and Richard (Barb), grandchildren; Christina, Chelsey, Courtney, Riley, Delaney and Drake and great grandchild Mickey. He is also survived by his sister Juliana (Rudy), brothers Sepp (Helga), Audi (Frida) and Resi (Bruno) as well as nieces and nephews in Austria. Engelbert was born in Graz, Austria on October 24, 1930. His passion for this Bavarian upbringing of traditional folk culture, castles and fortresses that he grew up around, his love of the music and dance and of the mountain trails that he would go wandering on were spoken of often around his sons, grandchildren and friends. His love of nature and the outdoors, hunting and fishing, westerns and nature movies and trips to Banff and Waterton were always a highlight for Engelbert. Engelbert immigrated to Canada in the summer of 1952 and married Elizabeth on November 8, 1952 and started a family. He worked for the railroad for 3 years and then Bird Building supplies for 7 years. In 1967 Bert started with Canbra Foods, serving them for 23 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement years with Elizabeth, his sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Richard Brown officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
