LENA (MAGDALENA FRANCES) ELDER passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the age of 96 years.

Lena was born February 16, 1914 on her parents’ farm near Revenue, SK and married Louis Elder October 13, 1934 in Saskatoon, SK. They farmed in the Revenue area and operated a general store until 1959, when they moved to Saskatoon. They moved to Lethbridge in 1961, where she resided until her passing.

Lena is survived by her loving children Philip (Donna) Elder, Sr. Jean Elder, Sr. Edith Elder, Jerry (Valerie) Elder, Phyllis Nykiforuk, Jim (Loris) Elder, Diane (Otto) Miedema, Donna (Bill) Gibb, Doug (Becky) Elder and siblings Maryann Gerein, Helen Schraeder and Valentine Gerein. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, twin sons, Leo and Louis; parents, Joachim and Rosina Gerein, three sisters and five brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Ave. South, Lethbridge on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Gary Gordon of Whitehorse, YK and Father Raul Hernandez presiding.

Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
