Eileen is also survived by two sisters Florence Anderson of Calgary and Shirley Lannard of Richmond, BC, a brother Alan Vaile of Lomond and a brother Richard Vaile of Coaldale as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents her dear husband Lloyd, brother Rod Vaile, her precious grandson Dory Lane Dietrich and her son in law Lance Hornberger. Eileen was born March 24th, 1926 in a small farm home in the Armada District. She was the second of six children born to Robert and Doris Vaile. Eileen attended the Plateau and Armada school until she was 16 years old, at which time she and her family moved to Rockyford, AB. It was in Rockyford that she met Lloyd Dietrich, the man she would later marry. Eileen moved from Rockyford to Calgary with her family at the age of 18 where she worked as a waitress. Lloyd joined the army and went into training at Curry Barracks and she and Lloyd were married on December 1, 1944. Two weeks later Lloyd went overseas to serve his country. Eileen continued to work and waited for her husband to return from the war. Thankfully he did and about a year later they were able to resume their life together and start a family. Eileen and Lloyd moved to the Lomond District to try their hand at farming on the Haley place, and their family continued to grow. The family moved to Rumsey, AB for awhile were they also farmed. In 1953 Eileen and Lloyd moved their family back to Lomond District to the Elmer Hamm farm, later to become the Hamm Ranches. Eileen gave birth to, loved and raised 8 children. Eileen and Lloyd lived and farmed at Hamm Ranches until Lloyd suffered a stroke in 1976. Eileen moved her family to Lethbridge so Lloyd could take rehabilitation but later moved back to Lomond as Lloyd longed to be close to the family farm. Eileen resided in Lomond until deteriorating health forced her to move to an assisted living facility in West Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. Eileen loved music and gardening, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her a great legacy in them. She was a loving, gentle lady and we will miss her dearly every day of our lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Bill Calderwood, officiating.
