EDWARDS, PETRA NELLIE

PETRA (PATTI) EDWARDS of Lethbridge passed away suddenly at St. Therese Villa, Lethbridge on Saturday, April 28, 2012. She is lovingly remembered by two sons; Jim (Sabina) Sazalski and Dave (Bev) Sazalski, grandchildren, Jason Sazalski (Tara), Kim (Scott) Stubbings and great grandchildren Kayla Stubbings, Kourtney and Ashley Sazalski. She is also survived by one brother and five sisters. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers and two sisters. “I was born in Vennray, Holland and immigrated to Canada with my family. My first job here was as a waitress at Henderson Lake Golf Course. I then worked for Dr. Fox and Dr. Van Christou in the medical dental field, which I enjoyed immensely. Later in my life I worked in the Home Healthcare system, so when I moved into the Blue Sky Lodge I found I still had the desire to help people less able then myself. I would help people in wheelchairs or walkers to the dining room at mealtimes. My help was greatly appreciated by everyone. I was very blessed to have 2 wonderful sons, Jim and Dave. Later they married 2 caring daughter-in-laws. Jim married Sabina and Dave married Bev. I was given a grandson Jason who gave me 2 great granddaughters Kourtney and Ashley. Then I was blessed with a granddaughter Kim who later married Scott and gave me a great granddaughter Kayla. I enjoyed them as much as possible. I had the best loving companion for many years, Simba a brown Himalayan cat. He especially loved me when I would take him to his groomer for his haircuts. He would look at me saying what have you done fluffy tail and shaved bare everywhere else. I had many family BBQ’s which I really enjoyed. Family - Food - Fun. Thinking about the times I most enjoyed was Christmas. I was known for my famous 2 lb. butter pound cake. Everyone was sure to get one. I loved spoiling everyone even the pets. Some years you could hardly walk around the house. We would start festivities at 7:00 PM and go till 4:30 AM. The grand children’s eyes would be as round as quarters anticipating what was to come. Everyone has smiles on their faces, which filled me with such joy. My final years were spent at St. Therese Villa, where I made many friends. I was made to feel so much at home. Thank you to everyone there for all you have done. To all my friends and family thank you for such wonderful memories and remember I’ll love you always.” Relatives and friends are invited to Prayer Services at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 7:00 P.M.
