Dykstra, Mattie

"Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalm 23:6

It is with great sadness but, quiet relief, that we announce the passing into glory of MATHYSJE "MATTIE" DYKSTRA (nee Pater), beloved wife of Glenn, on July 20th 2017 in her home at Legacy Lodge at the age of 88 years.

Along with her husband, she is lovingly remembered by her children: Alice (Alvin*), Derrick (Connie), Betty (Wade), Bernice (Rick), 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as her siblings, Annie (Bill) and Ralph (Theresa*); and her siblings-in-law, Wyke (Fred*), Peter (Nancy) and Shirley (John).

Mattie was predeceased by her daughter Dena* and grandson Peter*; siblings, Catrinus*, Grace* (George) and Walter* (Joyce*); and siblings-in-law, Fenny* (Bertus*) and Tina*.

Mattie was born in Oldeouwer, Friesland, Netherlands on January 6th, 1929. She immigrated to Canada at the age of 22 and married Glenn on August 21, 1957.

Mattie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing and going for walks. She was a woman of great faith and her life was a real testimony of her love for Jesus. Mattie battled Alzheimer's for many years but, continued to sing which caused those around her to sing.

We're so thankful for all the love and care shown to her by the staff of Legacy Lodge especially those of the South Cottage.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH, 1100-40th Ave. North, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor John van Eyk officiating.

A Private Family Burial was held prior to the service.

Dear Glenn & family, our condolences to you on the passing of Mattie. May you find peace in God's word: My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me. Psalm 101:6
