Dr. Yoon Chang Chen, beloved partner of Marjorie Chen of Calgary, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on February 7, 2008 at the age of 72 years. He is the loving father of Lei Lian (Chen) and Darren Pepper of Lethbridge, Kim Chen and Jill Kinsey of Bluffdale, Utah, Su-Lin (Chen) and Tony Fantella of Melbourne, Australia and Bruce Harvey (Stepson). He is also the loving grandfather of: Jesse, Jordan, Katie and Zoe Pepper, Courtney and Michael Chen and Tatiana and Chloe Fantella. He is also survived by a large, extensive and loving family in Singapore. It is impossible to encompass a rich life in just a few sentences. Our father was Dr. Chen to his patients, Dad to us, Poppy Chen to his grandchildren, and Chuck to his partner and friends. He was a wonderful example of tenacity and force of will as he quietly achieved more than many achieve in several life times—a chemical engineer, a pre-med student and finally a podiatrist. He taught all of us the true meaning of ‘following your passion’ at any age. He never settled for just one goal but many as he embraced life to its fullest in his work, his art and his loves of travel, ballroom dancing and truly enjoying a good meal. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, his patients and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. We will eternally carry him and his example in our hearts, minds and lives.
