Dorothy was born on December 4, 1934, in Champion, Alberta, and moved to Lethbridge as a teenager, where she spent the rest of her life.

She began her career working the switchboard at Telus and, through hard work and dedication, rose to a management position. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Douglas Beswick Kometz, and chose to step away from her career to focus on building a family. Together, they raised their son, John (born in 1969), and adopted their daughter, Marci (1971). Dorthy cherished family life and spent many happy years traveling in their RV and cheering on her children at countless sporting events.

Following Douglas’s passing in 1995, Dorthy Later found companionship again with Ernie Resler. The two shared many joyful years dancing, traveling, and staying active with local senior groups until Ernie’s passing in 2024.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Douglas, her brother Andy, her daughter Marci, and her companion Ernie. She is survived by her beloved son John Kometz and her sister Marg Olsen.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2825 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Lee Loveridge officiating.

Dorothy will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of your loss John. I have you in my thoughts. Becky

Becky Little, June 11, 2025

Deepest condolences John and family, never easy losing a parent. I’ll never forget meeting your mom at the door, after a brief tour on your dad’s motorcycle. She very kindly asked who I was, maybe just to make sure. Then I could hear her giggling as she went to get your dad.
