DORENE ANNA PERSLEY, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late William Persley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the age of 89 years.

Dorene is survived by her son Bill Persley Jr. (Linda Storoz) of Cobble Hill, BC, grandchildren: Chad Persley of Calgary and Kim (Luke) Kozlowski and their children Ozzie and Silas of Victoria, Jessica Rampling of Nanaimo, and Tynan Rampling of Vancouver; daughter Loraine (Gord) Hubbell of Calgary, grandchildren: Lyndsey (Rory) Balmer and their daughter Isla of Houston, TX and Garrett (Michelle) Hubbell and their children Anden, Mia and Baela of Calgary; daughter Fae (Pat) McCune of Calgary, grandchildren: Carly (Beau) Filkowski and their children Rex and Blake of Calgary and Todd (Natalia) McCune of Calgary; daughter Sherri (Darwin) Skretting, grandchildren: Alexi Skretting of Lethbridge and Breanne (Kyle) McIntosh and their children Bennett and Cohen of Lethbridge; son Ron (Marla) Persley of Kelowna, grandchild: Brendan Persley (Tracy) of Kelowna; brother Frank (Anne) Karas of Calgary, as well as numerous nephews and a niece.

Besides her loving husband, William Persley, Dorene was predeceased by her son Paul Persley, grandson David Persley, parents Paul and Anna Karas, and sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill Paniec.

Dorene was born on October 11, 1935 in Natal, BC (a former coal-mining town in the Elk Valley), to the late Paul and Anna Karas.

Upon graduation, Dorene moved to Lethbridge to attend the Galt School of Nursing. She married William Persley on March 26, 1955 in Shelby, Montana, and together, they raised their six children in Lethbridge. Sadly, their son, Paul, passed away at the tender age of four. Dorene loved being surrounded by children; she was very talented and creative in sewing, quilting and crochet projects, and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She found solace and community at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.

During Dorene’s last few years, she was devoted to the rosary as a source of strength. Seeing pictures and videos of her many great-grandchildren from near and afar would bring the ultimate joy to her.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Cedar Creek Adaptacare for the excellent care our mom received.

You will be forever loved and missed Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma (Baba).
