It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to our dear brother, ALAN KEITH DIETRICH, who passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with Covid at the age of 66 years. He will be sadly missed.

Alan is survived by four brothers: Dale, Bob (Kathy), Larry (Sandy), David (Rachelle); and two sisters: Judy (Darryl) Gillespie and Marianne (Kirk) Thurlow. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Alan was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Henry Dietrich, mother Eileen Olive (Vaile) Dietrich, his wife Judith Eileen (Peters) Dietrich and his brother Ted (Roy Edward) Dietrich.

He was also predeceased by two nephews, Dory Lane Dietrich and Douglas Darryl Gillespie and  sister-in-law Donna Marie (Root) Dietrich, Dale's beloved wife.

Alan was born in Vulcan, Alberta, the fifth of eight children born to Lloyd and Eileen Dietrich.

He was raised east of Lomond on the family farm. He attended the Lomond School and then later the Vulcan High School.

Growing up on the farm, he loved to ride horses and later worked at his brothers riding stables in Banff. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing.  Baseball was a sport he really liked and I understand he was a good first baseman.

He worked at many jobs but always returned to his home town of Lomond. It was here he met and married the love of his life, Judith Eileen Peters. Alan really enjoyed spending time with Judy's daughter SaraLyn and when her three boys started calling him Grandpa, he was overjoyed and loved spending time with them. Alan and Judy resided in Lomond for several years during which he worked on the family farm and then for the County of Vulcan as an equipment operator. Later on, they moved to Lethbridge.

We will always remember Alan as a big man with an even bigger heart. He was loving , kind and generous to a fault. He will be greatly missed and remembered always. May you rest in peace, dear brother.

A private Family Service will be held at a later date.
