MR. DELWIN ERNEST GALTS passed away in Milk River on July 13, 2008 at the age of 78 years, after a long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of the late Nadine (Gibson). He is survived by his children; Diane (Dean) Ellert of Lethbridge, Konrad (Carleen) Galts, Cathy (Randy) Harty both of Coutts, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers; Audrey (John) Van Leuken, Don (Carol) Galts, Mary (Don) Kuharski, Marvin (Chloe) Galts, Verna Hierath, numerous nieces and nephews and good friend Jill Kotkas. He was predeceased by his wife Nadine, daughter Maryanne, parents Ernie & Irene and brother Larry. Delwin was born in Calgary on October 15, 1929 and was raised on the family farm east of Coutts. He received his education at Clarinda School and Coutts School. Delwin continued his education at SAIT in Calgary, taking welding and mechanics. On October 26th, 1950 Delwin married the love of his life, Nadine Gibson. They moved to the farmstead east of Coutts in 1951 where they raised their 4 children. In 1952 Delwin started managing the farm when the rest of his family moved to Lethbridge. Family returned home for summer months to help out. In 1968 Delwin bought the homestead from his Dad. Delwin and Nadine moved to Milk River in 1985. Delwin enjoyed being involved in the community. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, active member of the Elks, Milk River Curling Club, and Southern Alberta Outdoorsmen. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, curling, golfing, playing cards, dancing and water skiing. His grandchildren were important to him and he enjoyed their basketball, volleyball and baseball games. Delwin loved his family and was always planning a family get together. He was strong willed and never gave up. He courageously fought his battle with cancer. Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle: we love you; we will miss your company; and will keep you forever in our hearts. Prayer Services will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, AB on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH , 321 Main Street, Milk River AB on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Joseph T. Kalathiparambil Celebrant. Private family interment to follow at St. Angels Cemetery, Coutts, AB. In memory of Delwin memorial tributes may be made to the Milk River Care Centre Long Term Auxiliary P.O.
