Besides his wife, Margaret of 62 years, Delmar is survived by his daughters: Laurie (Marc), Susan (Tim), and Tammy (Paul); grandchildren: Eric (Erin), Amanda (Kevin), Adam (Katee), Brock (Kelsie), Aaron, Kaitlyn and Thomas; great-grandchildren: Myles, Palmer, Noah, Tyson, Tanner and Aubrielle.
Delmar was born to John and Tillie (Wittman) Haubrich on June 21, 1939 in his grandparents’ home in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan. He attended a country school, completing his grade nine education, then worked on the farm with his dad, doing whatever jobs became available.
He had a good life growing up on the farm with his two brothers and three sisters.
He loved dancing and that’s where he met Margaret. They got married on February 28, 1962 and settled on the farm where Margaret grew up. They were blessed with three girls: Laurie, Susan and Tammy, and Delmar was so proud of them, to his last day.
As a family, their way of life was mixed farming for the next 35 years. In 1997, the farm was rented out and just sold this year.
Wanting to be closer to family, Delmar and Margaret moved to Lethbridge in 2017, making many new friends and enjoying spending time with both.
Delmar had several health issues over the past 22 years and was tired and very ready to go to his final heavenly home.
A Celebration of Delmar’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 3:30 P.M. with Caroline Langford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca) or Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lethbridge, AB (e-transfer to good.shepherd@shaw.ca)
