DAVID JAMES HOFER, of Spring Coulee/Cardston, beloved partner of Zenieth Gaynor, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the age of 65 years. Besides his loving partner, David is survived by his brother, Dennis (Faye) Hofer; 2 nieces and nephews; Dean and Kristi; and numerous family members. David was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Arlean. David grew up on the family farm helping his dad on the farm, as well as in the garage that his father owned and operated. David became a very good mechanic and became well known for his mechanical abilities and ingenuity. David played ball on various baseball and softball teams in the area and was an avid curler winning numerous trophies. He was a self taught musician and could play several different instruments including guitar, banjo, violin and bagpipes. He played in local bands as well as a pipe band in Lethbridge. David started his own business known as Springco Contracting as a Contract Operating Consultant for different oil companies. He earned several specialized certificates and obtained the position of On-Site Supervisor for oil production activities in the area. David met his partner Zenieth in the early 1980’s and the two enjoyed a full, active life enjoying camping, fishing and traveling. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Cardston, ? 1/4 mile south of Cardston, on Highway #2, on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. A private family interment will take place in Spring Coulee. In memory of David, body or organ donations may be made to help others at any hospital or to the University of Calgary.
