It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of RUSSELL ELLSWORTH DANNATT, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, at the age of 90 years at Edith Cavell Care Center on Sunday, July 8, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife Doreene and children Judy Latosky, Marlys (Bob) Fyvie, Sharon (Dave) Crabb, and Robert (Joan) Dannatt, two step-children Don (Darlene) Johnston and Judy Johnston, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, sisters Margaret Gotwals and Lois (Wayne) Currie. He was predeceased by his first wife Rose (Dies), parents Fred and Gardie Dannatt, brother-in- law Anthony Gotwals, son-in-law Grant Latosky and great grandson Trevin Selk. Russ was born on May 11, 1922 at Van Harlem Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta , son to Fred and Gardie Dannatt. He was raised and farmed in the Warner Area. Hard working man of many talents, besides farming a section of land, he had R.E.D. trucking, ran a service station, worked for the County of Warner, was a volunteer in Warner Fire Department, sat on town council, was a part of Operation Snow Bound dropping hay to stranded cattle in the blizzard of 1967 and also life member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #222. He retired from Department of Highways at the age of 65. If you knew him you loved him. Special thanks to Dr. Morley Wong, caring staff at Chinook Renal Unit and Edith Cavell Care Centre. A Celebration of Life to be held at the Lethbridge Sports Park (Rotary Picnic Shelter) 2925-30 Avenue North, Lethbridge, (one block North of the Northside Walmart) on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
