CURTIS RABBIT

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, brother and Uncle Curtis Rabbit on Friday January 9, 2009 at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge Alberta. Left to carry on his legacy are children; Sheldon (Karen), John (Amelia), Barry, Carmen (Casey), Eldon, Franny, Celeste, and Kaylee; Grandchildren; Kobe, Tiarra and Hannah, Casey Jr.; Brothers and Sisters; Andrew (Michelina), Joseph (Monica), Michael (Lorraine), Robert (Hope Ann), Homer (Donna), Bruce (Trina), Brenda (Robert), Wayne and Norman, Aunt Myrna, Uncle Martin, nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to mention. Curtis leaves behind a legacy of hard work, caring, and unity. He was a down to earth human being, never setting out to make big promises to anyone but always giving of himself unselfishly. He proved himself very capable in all that he did. Curtis was born in Cardston and raised in the community of Lavern on the Blood Reserve. Curtis received his education at St. Mary’s and in Cardston. Experiences at school and home reinforced the ethics of hard work. He was committed and dedicated to his job of 15 years at Blood Tribe Department of Health and another 10 years at St. Paul’s Treatment Center. He was a caring and loving father endeavoring to always provide for his children for necessities of life, his brothers a helping hand and others quality time. Often one would witness the special way he interacted with his nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was kind. There will certainly be a void in the hearts of his teammates. Curtis played fastball with his sons, brothers and friends, forming the team ‘Lavern Blues’. His contributions as a catcher brought the team to many tournaments across Canada, to the podium as League Champions in Lethbridge, 1991 and in Calgary, 1999. Curtis had a creative spirit that he shared with many as he played his guitar ‘Lucille’ as he beautified his home landscaping, and as he designed and helped to build the new gym at St. Paul’s. His creative spirit outshined all others one Christmas when he won honors for his Christmas light display in Lavern. All of us who knew him are saddened by his passing. We are comforted knowing that he leaves us in this world to join other family members gone before us; mom, Celina, 1981, dad, Joe, 1982, brother, James 2003 and others too numerous to mention. A Family Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, January 16, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. A Wake Service will be held at SENATOR GLADSTONE HALL, Blood Reserve on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. and then continuing at the Residence. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Pawell Celebrant. Interment to follow at the Rabbit Family Plot.
