ELSIE COUPLAND passed away peacefully in the presence of family, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, seven months into her 102nd year.

She is survived by her son Dale (Sandra) of Lethbridge; grandchildren Ryan (Laiha) Coupland and Sara Coupland of Calgary; Kimberley (Trevor) Hughes of Lethbridge and great-grandchildren Gabby Rebolone Coupland, Matthew Coupland, Alyssa Hughes and Sara Hughes.

Elsie was born in Lethbridge and was predeceased by her first husband John (Jack) Coupland in 1953, by her daughter Carol Burton in 1999, her second husband Lloyd Pennington in 2000, her sister Dorothy Hughes and her parents Albert and Louise Wocknitz.

Elsie was healthy, independent and maintained her sense of humour up until her death. She spent her last years at the Blackrock Lodge, and on her hundredth birthday celebration, attributed her long life to her passion for knitting. Her family was very fortunate to be the welcome recipients of many beautiful items over the years. She enriched the lives of everyone who knew her.

The family would like to thank the Blackrock Lodge for providing her an environment in which to thrive.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In memory of Elsie, donations may be made to Green Acres Foundation (greenacres.ab.ca/donate/)

Hopefully all your wonderful memories will bring you comfort! I am so thankful we got to know her and were also recipients of some of her beautiful knitting.
