M. LAYNE COOK passed away peacefully at home in Lethbridge with his loving wife by his side, on Sunday, October 18, 2020, one day shy of his 68th birthday.

M. LAYNE COOK passed away peacefully at home in Lethbridge with his loving wife by his side, on Sunday, October 18, 2020, one day shy of his 68th birthday.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Cook (née Smith), children, Shawn and Silvia (Velasquez) Cook and granddaughters, Isla and Ella, Evan and Ainsley (Pickering) Cook. He also leaves behind, his daughters, Hijung Kim of Daegu, South Korea and Monica Velasquez of Lethbridge; brothers, Tyler (Janet) Cook of Lethbridge and Trevor (Pierre Simard) Cook of Montreal. He is also survived by Elmer and Silvia Velasquez, Ria Pickering and loyal friend, Wayne Ensign. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold (Hal) and Ella Cook (Green) of Lethbridge, Alberta and one brother Micheal many years ago.  

Layne was born and adopted as an infant in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, as a paratrooper, sniper and air defense technician and member of the Royal Highland Regiment, aka The Black Watch. He served from 1969-1974, for which his family was immensely proud. Layne married the love of his life, Nancy on May 29, 1981. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
