With deep love and sorrow, we grieve the death of NOEL VINH HO CHIPMAN, following a brief but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the age of 52 years.

Noel was born in South Vietnam in 1970. Following a lengthy adoption process, one year old Noel arrived in Canada where he was welcomed into the loving family of Dennis and Juanita, completing the Chipman crew of six siblings. From a young age Noel demonstrated resiliency, independence, and determination. He grew to become a strong young man with an outstanding athletic ability. He was a fierce competitor who excelled at both track and football. If you knew Noel, you were witness to his wit, charm, and charismatic personality. He was also an intensely private individual.

Noel will be dearly missed by a loving collection of family and friends.

A Private Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held.

The family wish to extend sincere thanks for the care and attention provided by the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, Lethbridge Home Care Services and Gail's Apothecary.

Just catching up with this sad, sad news. Noel was such an important part of my life at a super tough time. The years passed and we drifted apart, but I always held a huge space in my heart for him. I can't quite believe what has happened. Big, gentle hugs and love to his family and friends.

Rest Easy Noel.

Greg Murphy, October 6, 2023

Noel had the biggest and brightest smile out there. Kind, funny and outgoing he was a presence in high school, looked up to by many. Sending healing thoughts to you, Nelson, and the Chipman family.

Our condolences to the Chipman family. Noel was a very valuable member of the Okanagan Sun Football Team from 1989-1992. He was named Rookie of the year and Top Offensive Back in his first season and again in 1990, he also was named Most Popular Player in 1992. Noel also led the team in scoring in 1990 and 1992. During his career with the Okanagan Sun he rushed for 3308 yards and 40 touchdowns.Former Head Coach of the Sun Lawrence Nagy had this to say about Noel Chipman I was saddened to hear of the passing of Noel Chipman. I would have to say that pound for pound he was one of if not the toughest football players I have ever coached. He had a big heart and even a bigger smile. He wasn't a big guy but he made up for his lack of size with incredible quickness and overall speed. He also had a habit of running over people twice his size rather than running around them. When I think of Noel I smile and what I see in my minds eye is one very happy young man with a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous but infectious grin on his face. It waa honour to have known him and be his coach. We are all going to miss you Noel. RIP.

Okanagan Sun Football Team, October 5, 2023

I've know Noel over the years, not remembering where or when we met, just knowing it was "back in the day". Over the years I would run into him, always greeted with that huge smile and a hug. I really didn't know him well at all, but to his parents and siblings, please know his personality was so real and big, and true. May he Rest in Peace.
