MR. WILLIAM “HOWARD” CHARLESWORTH, beloved husband of Mrs. Maureen Charlesworth of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, with his loving family at his side on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the age of 80 years.
Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Howard is survived by his children; Elaine (Jerry) Fress, Diane (Arnold) Shumaker, Karen (Gerry) Moore and Craig (Arlene) Charlesworth as well as grandchildren; Cory (Lila) Fress, Kelly Fress, Braden Shumaker, Ryan (Tara) Moore and Devin Moore, along with great-grandson Quinton Howard Moore.
Howard is also survived by brothers; Ron (Carol) Charlesworth and Willard Charlesworth, sisters-in-law Stephanie Charlesworth, Valerie Charlesworth, Lorraine Jensen and Eileen Clark, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elsie Charlesworth, brother Art Charlesworth, parents-in-law Jim & Ethel Beveridge, Shirley Anderson, Clarence Jensen and Ed Clark.
Howard was born on March 29, 1930 in Lethbridge to Arthur and Elsie Charlesworth. He was raised on the family farm in the Barrhill area near Picture Butte. He attended school at Bulmer and Barrhill. Howard married Maureen (Beveridge) on August 27, 1954 and they celebrated 56 years together.
Howard worked as a carpet layer for Eatons for a couple of years before venturing off in business for himself. In 1960 they moved to Barrhill and purchased Barrhill Farm Sales. He continued in business until retiring in November of 1996. He also drove a school bus for 35 years while in Barrhill. Howard and Maureen moved to Lethbridge in 1999 and remained there until his passing.
A Celebration of Howard’s Life will be held at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 - 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Glenda Wert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Howard’s name to a charity of your choice.
