Send a Tribute Carol Wiest Service Recording

Carol was born in Balcarres, SK, on April 3, 1943. She met Cliff during a public skating session in Regina, married on October 12, 1968, and quickly started a family in Balcarres. The couple moved to Victoria, BC for Cliff’s employment in 1972 before moving back to Regina in 1976 to be closer to family for their children, though Carol’s heart never left the ocean.

In Regina, Carol was deeply involved in the figure skating community in the 1970’s and 80’s and is remembered fondly as a happy, positive force in the skating world.

In 1990, with both children in university, Carol and Cliff took a leap of faith and bought the Coaldale Motor Inn, in Coaldale, AB, a town and province where they knew no one. The first years in the fledgling business were tough, but Cliff and Carol worked together as a team to build and grow a successful venture, making multiple new friends along the way. Carol credits the community of Coaldale for accepting and supporting them over the years. Upon leaving the hotel business, Carol managed the Antel clothing store in Lethbridge, before she and Cliff took on managing food and beverage services at Paradise Canyon Golf and Country Club.

She is survived by her husband Cliff of Lethbridge, her daughter Cara Wiest of Pittsburgh, PA, son Craig Wiest (Stacy), granddaughters Gracelynn and Claire, and step-granddaughters Katelynn (John) Willis and Kenzie (Grant) Davis, all of Houston, TX, and her brother Barry Trapp and family, of Fort Qu’Appelle, SK.

Carol is predeceased by her father Joseph Trapp, mother Irma (née Barker), infant brother Floyd, and brother Blair, who died at age 7.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Bruce Barnett officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Father William Monis celebrating. The Funeral Mass will be recorded and will be available to view online on Carol’s obituary at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept donations to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation (crhfoundation.ca), whose compassionate and caring nurses and doctors took such great care of Carol in her final days.

My deepest condolences to Cliff, Craig, Cara and family. Carol and Cliff and family were wonderful friends and neighbours. I missed you greatly when you moved. Carol was kind , caring and so very talented; her homemade pizzas and cinnamon buns were supreme. I remember when she gave my sons their first swimming lessons in their pool. Cliff and her children meant the world to her. I feel very blessed to have had Carol in my life. I know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Dear Cara, Craig and Cliff On behalf of my mom Elaine Jackle and myself, we would like to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Carol. I have such fond memories of the sleepovers we had as young children. The kindness of Carol was impressed upon me even as a youngster. I am so sorry for your loss. Cara - if you would ever like to re-connect, my mom is still in the Regina phone book and you can connect through her if you would like. Take the best of care, Joanne and Elaine
