Burris, Ernest Edward

ERNEST EDWARD BURRIS, beloved husband of the late Helen Marie Burris of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
Ernie is lovingly remembered by his children Karen Carleton, Richard (Vi) Burris, Alvin (Shirley) Burris, Jim (Carol) Burris all of Lethbridge, AB., Glen (Tess) Burris of Sturgeon County, AB. and Alanna (Don) Parsons of Stettler, AB., 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
His memory is also cherished by his brother Roy (Nora) Burris and his brother-in-law Robert (Maureen) Anderson.
Along with his loving wife Helen in 1987, Ernie was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Mabel Burris and his siblings Marvin, Ruth, Nina and Bill.
Ernie was born on December 12, 1925 in Wetaskiwin, AB. He met Helen (nee Anderson) while working as a guard at the POW Camp and they were married on August 30, 1946 in Lethbridge. While raising their 6 children, Ernie worked for the CPR as a conductor for 38 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping, waterskiing, boating and listening to country music. Ernie traveled with his motorhome through every Province in Canada, every state in the U.S. and also visited Hawaii. He was a real jokester, making us laugh until it was time to play a game then he was Mr. Competitive and "game face on". He loved the saying "If I knew now much fun it was to have grandchildren I would have had them first." Ernie will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating.
Interment will follow at Archmount Cemetery.
In memory of Ernie, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society, 1254-3rd Ave. South, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 0J9, or to a charity of your choice.
