CORNELIUS PHILLIP ANTON ‘BUD’ ALBIEZ, beloved husband of Arleen Edith, of Lethbridge, slipped away peacefully from our home into the arms of the Lord just before dawn after a brief illness on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the age of 82 years. He is the loving father of one daughter, Maureen Robin Albiez and one son, Kurt Phillip (Corinne) Albiez; three treasured grandsons, Mark Phillip (Rachel), Jamie Louis and Byron Patrick Albiez, all of Lethbridge. He is survived by his sister Louise (Joe) Norrish of Buchanan, Saskatchewan and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Herman, mother, Veronica and sister, Florence. Bud came from Saskatchewan to Alberta in 1947 to attend technical school in Edmonton and met Arleen at the Taber rodeo. He asked for her hand on her parent’s 25th anniversary on November 27th, 1949 and they became husband and wife on her parent’s 27th anniversary in 1951. Robin was born November 27, 1955 on their 4th anniversary and Kurt followed 2.5 years later. Bud was an avid hunter, fisher, outdoorsman and an acclaimed marksman and woodsman. A well respected precision mechanic, welder and gas plant operator, his thirst for knowledge and acquiring skills never waned. Highly intelligent and well read, he is remembered for his abilities to build almost anything; including air boats, motor homes, fishing boats, woodworks and anything mechanical. For more than 50 years he fashioned the most wonderful Halloween costumes, Easter egg hunts and Christmases. All were welcome in their home and he enjoyed the company of many dear friends and co-creators over the years. He had a true sense of compassion for those less fortunate, and a special love for animals with a profound respect for nature. He was a lifelong member of the Elk’s and proud to serve. He favored classical music and enjoyed dining to the utmost. He was extremely proud of his ancestry and heritage, his family and grandsons. His love and understanding of God was unparalleled, as was our love and respect for him. He leaves us with hearts aching and longing to be in his company again. A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. with Reverend Lois Punton officiating.
