WILLIAM ALLAN BROOKS (AL), passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Monday, April 2, 2012, at the age of 77 years. Al was born to Grey and Clara Brooks on May 16, 1934 and was raised in Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan. He moved to Manitoba in 1950 where he met his loving wife, Kathy. They married in 1954 and moved to Calgary to raise their family. Al was stationed with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1955 to 1965 serving in Indo China and Egypt. He later worked for Canada Post for 25 years until his retirement in 1990. Al always loved fishing, golfing, playing cards and curling. Since his retirement he spent many happy hours among friends at Indian Hills Campground. Survived by his loving wife, Kathy of 57 years, children Dan (Lee) Brooks of Lethbridge, Shelley (Henry) Grant of Fort McMurray, AB, Shane (Melanie) Brooks of Red Deer, AB and grandchildren Chris, Tara, Amanda, Jamie, Troy, Michael and Renae, eight great-grandchildren and three brothers, Roy, Gerry (Pat), Dale (Betty), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Clara and Grey Brooks, brothers Bert, Harold and sisters Ada and Shirley. A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., with Major Glen Habkirk officiating.
