MR. ANDRE BRAUN of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the age of 83 years.
He is the loving father of: Helen (Perry) Layton of Coaldale and Attila (Cheryl) Braun of Lethbridge. Andre is also survived by his grandchildren: Joshua and Daniel Layton, Jordan (Jamie) Layton, Carolynn (Jean) Viau all of Coaldale; Amanda (Chase) Oliver, Mackenzie and Victoria Braun all of Lethbridge.
His extended family includes Lou Mate Jr. and his children Lindsay, Lacey and Louis Mate all of Lethbridge and Jaime Lillian Mate of Edmonton.
Andre is also survived by Piroska Braun; mother of Helen, Attila and Robert; one sister Julie Pesti and her sons Arpad, Joe and Bandi Pesti of Hungary; his brother John, also has two daughters Eva and Terri Braun in Hungary as well as great nephew Joe Pesti who resides in Alberta. He was predeceased by his son Robert, brother John, sisters Katalin and Suzanna, parents John and Suzanna Braun, and Lou’s daughter Stacey Jae Mate.
Andre was an independent man who enjoyed camping, fishing and having coffee with acquaintances. As his health deteriorated and he was confined to a wheel chair, he continued to roam downtown Lethbridge and have coffee at the mall. He loved his dogs and enjoyed feeding the birds of his neighbourhood. Andre enjoyed a challenging game of Crib with one of his family members or any other visitor. Andre loved accordion and violin music and enjoyed having his daughter Helen and her children and students come to entertain the residents of Extendicare. His son Attila spent a lot of time with him, especially at social events put on by Extendicare. Andre was much loved by the staff at Extendicare for his wit and humour. He made each day interesting and unpredictable. He will be missed by all his family and friends as well as the staff at Extendicare. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Extendicare for their thoughtful care of dad.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Ray Wagner officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
