Send a Tribute

Mr. Bert Bosch, beloved husband of Marlene Bosch (née Arthur), passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Mr. Bert Bosch, beloved husband of Marlene Bosch (née Arthur), passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Bert was a devoted and proud father to Gregory (Lisa) Bosch, Debra Bosch-Friedrick and Clark (Amber) Bosch. Also left to mourn are his beloved grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle), Jordan (Kaley), Kyle & Graeme (Chelsie) Bosch, Lauren (Chip) Ammons, Kristi, Ryan (Jill) Bosch-Friedrick, Keaton & Kacie Bosch and Maddie & Noah Romard, as well as five great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Irene Bosch.

Bert was predeceased by his parents, Lambertus & Henderika Bosch, his brother, Jacob "Joe" Bosch and his son-in-law, Norm Friedrick.

Bert grew up in Monarch, AB and attended school there and in Coalhurst until his family moved to Lethbridge, where he graduated from LCI in 1953. Bert became a Surveyor and worked for Brown & Okamura Associates Ltd. for 40 years, retiring in 1993. Bert often pointed out the many structures he had surveyed in Southern Alberta.

Bert met Marlene at the Trianon Dance Hall in Lethbridge in 1954 and they were married on December 16, 1955. They had 63 wonderful years together.

Bert loved sports of any kind and proudly followed his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. A very proud time for him was when he coached Little League Baseball and his team (which included his son, Clark) won the Canadian Championships in 1977 and went on to play in Gary, Indiana in the Little League World Series. In 1999, he and his team were inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame.

Bert had a great sense of humour and enjoyed life to the fullest. Bert was an avid horse race fan, loved to dance, meet friends for coffee, travel (especially to the Kentucky Derby in 1977 and to Holland) and most importantly, spend time with his family.

A Celebration of Bert's Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to STARS, 1441 Aviation Park N.E. (Box 570), Calgary, AB T2E 8M7; Heart & Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 or to a charity of your choice.

To the Bosch family, Bert was a really great Man, I personally had the opportunity to get to know Bert on an every day basis as I worked along side Bert as his rodman At Brown Okamura. I recall our long days out on the road, spending our lunches sitting quietly in the truck/station wagon listening to Paul Harvey. Bert had a lifelong influence on my future, it was both he & the owner of the Engineering firm that encouraged me to go to University. I know my Mom & Dad 9Sam & Anne Serbu) surely loved the times they spent with Bert and his lovely wife at revelers functions or during the decades they spent growing the game of baseball for the youth in Lethbridge. My condolences to the Bosch family. Sincerely, Ken Serbu
