ANNE EVA BORAS, beloved wife of the late Walter V. Boras, passed away at the Good Samaritan Park Meadows Village, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the age of 91 years, surrounded by close family.
Anne is survived by her five children - Pat (Wayne) Petersen of Lethbridge, Carol Boras of Vietnam, Lorrie (Sean) McCarthy of Longview, Susan (Marc) Boras of Coquitlam, and David (Julie) Boras of Lethbridge. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Tom (Elsie) Bulva, her sisters-in-law Helen Boras, Cecile Bulva, and Barb (Ken) McRae, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
Besides her loving husband, Walter V. Boras in 1999, Anne is predeceased by her parents Mary and Ivan, brothers Johnny and Joseph, brothers-in-law Mike Boras, Ivan Boras Earl Gibbons, and sisters-in-law Anne Gibbons and Doris Boras, and nephew Kenny Bulva.
Anne was born June 13, 1928, in Obrez, Yugoslavia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in the Taber area and eventually purchased a farm in Barnwell. As the family grew, they sold the farm in Barnwell and purchased a larger farm in Iron Springs. Anne worked on the family farm in her late teens before working at the Gibbons store.
In 1950, Anne married Walter V. Boras and lived in the Picture Butte area where they raised their family. Anne was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed planting flowers in her rock garden, crocheting blankets and doilies, making and selling crafts at the Farmer's Market with Walter, and baking bread, kifles, and jam-jam cookies. Anne always had a fresh pot of coffee on for anyone who stopped by the farm, and fresh bread could be smelled for miles away.
Anne was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) in Picture Butte for over 60 years. She also was a member of the St. Catherine's Parish Choir. Her voice was as beautiful as the angels she made for the Farmer's Market.
In July 2015, Anne moved to the Piyami Lodge in Picture Butte where she resided for five years before moving to the Good Samaritan Park Meadows Village in November 2019. She resided there for two months.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. CATHERINE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB, on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. with Father Ian Gagne celebrating.
Following the Funeral Mass, Anne will be laid to rest with her husband in Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society in Lethbridge, #40, 1202-2nd Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0E3.

Nothing ever prepares you for the loss of a parent...someone who has always been a part of your life. Aunty Ankica, you will be missed.
To the Boras Family: On behalf of the Lethbridge Regional Catholic Women's League, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Anne. She was a long-time member of the CWL and we did appreciate all the hard work and caring she extended to League members, not just in Picture Butte, but through the National CWL. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Our Lady of Good Counsel, please intercede for the repose of the soul of our sister, Anne.
We offer our prayers for strength & peace. With sympathy.
Auntie Ankica will be remembered in our hearts as a loving sweet soul - always ready to open her door with a smile and accept us in for a visit. So many fond memories of family gatherings with her and Uncle Walter at the farm or down in the river bottom. We use the little angel she hand crafted on the top of our Christmas tree each year. To cousins Pat, Carol, Lori, Sue and David, and families - our deepest condolences.
I will never forget my Auntie. God is getting one of the best!!! RIP Auntie Anne
So sorry for your loss Lorrie, Sean and familyxo
