MRS. ANTONIA BOON, beloved wife of Mr. John Boon of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Besides her loving husband, Antonia is survived by Henrie (Harold) Beaulieu of Lethbridge, Alberta; Anne Thomsen of Toronto, Ontario; Lidy (Maurice) de Kwaadsteniet, of Edmonton, Alberta; Ellen (Gary) Kofman, of Edmonton, Alberta; Joanne (Curtis) Lazar, of Fernie, B.C.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Ali Friele, of Putten the Netherlands; and 1 brother, Evert (Ank) Kok, of Zwolle, the Netherlands. Toni was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she experienced a lovely childhood until the War struck. After the War, she married her beloved John in 1949 and together they left for Canada with their three oldest daughters to begin a new life in 1957. Her boundless energy and drive contributed greatly to their very successful immigration and two new daughters were born to them in their adopted country. Undertaking all of her jobs with zeal, perhaps none were as important to her personally as the Home Support Coordinator position she held for six years with Barons-Eureka Warner. There her strong sense of social justice contributed significantly to the enhanced well-being of those in great need. A vibrant force in the life of her family and those she met throughout her rich path on earth, Toni will be greatly missed. She lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Evert Sr. and Antonia Kok. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Larry Harkinson officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment at Mountain View Cemetery. In memory of Antonia and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 1811-2nd Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0E8.
