It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Alan Bevan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Ken passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on August 10, 2019, at the age of 85 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jo-Ann, his children Megan (Kale) Miller, Cheyenne (Joshua) Kleinsasser, Martin (Dewi) Bevan and Sheila Bevan. Ken was a very proud grandfather to Adair, Meisya, and Nolan. Ken will also be forever remembered by the Cudrak family.
Ken was born May 11, 1934, in Calgary, AB. He grew up just outside of Edmonton in Winfield, AB. Ken and Jo-Ann married in 1987 and resided on the acreage in Coutts where they raised their children until his passing.
He spent most of his life driving semi-trucks for companies like Hill & Hill Truck Lines and Waggoners Trucking, driving from Edmonton to Houston. This is where he developed his "Texan" accent. People always thought he was American.
Ken thoroughly enjoyed fishing—it didn't matter if he caught anything, just as long as he was casting the reel. He also took great pride in maintaining the semi-trucks he drove in top running condition; the interior was always spotless.
He was an avid storyteller and liked to talk about his past adventures, always making the listener laugh. Many of these included him taking the wrong exit ramp and the police having to shut down the highway to get him back on route.
Above all his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.
A Memorial Come-and-Go Reception will be held at COUTTS CIVIC CENTRE, 105 Centre Avenue, Coutts, AB on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Donations may be made on Ken's behalf to the Coutts Volunteer Fire Department.
