GLEN H. BERRY, of Lethbridge, sadly passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the age of 80 years.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Shirley and his three children, Jody (Tony) of Langley BC, Ryan (Karly) of Kimberley BC, and Chris (Lori) of Lethbridge and grandchildren Justin (Jamie), Ethan, Riley, Spencer, Dreyton, Jaimie Alex, Hunter and Samantha as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers Doug (Diana) and Bob (Danielle). Glen was predeceased by his parents Alan and Doris Berry, his daughter Shelley and his brother Peter (Sharee).
Glen began his career in policing in 1960 with the Lethbridge Police Service and continued with the Calgary Police Service in 1967 until his retirement in 1985, serving in several divisions to broaden his knowledge. Notably being the first K9 handler in Lethbridge.
After retiring, Glen and Shirley moved to Nanaimo, BC but moved back to Calgary after seven years. Once in Calgary, they decided to go back to their roots and the beginning of their story, Lethbridge.
Glen had a strong love for photography, traveling as far as Nova Scotia to capture the lighthouses. He took photos for his alma mater, LCI, and was the photographer for many Powwows and rodeos in the Lethbridge area.
Glen was the friend you wanted to have. Once you met him, he was your friend for life. He was both the voice of reason and the devil's advocate all in one - it was the policeman in him looking at things from all directions.
Glen will live on forever through those that knew and loved him and in our hearts.
As he would say, "I left the field with no regrets" and "Just tell everyone - the guy had fun". And indeed, he did.
A Memorial Service will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2529 - 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Aaron Moore officiating.

Doug and family.....please accept my sincere condolences regarding the passing of your brother Glen....keeping you in my thoughts and prayers
Deepest heartfelt condolences to you & yours, Shirley. Apologies for not making the service. I had an appointment with the cancer doc, so couldn't make it down to Lethbridge.
Shirley & family - So sorry to learn of Glen's passing. I'll cherish the memories of good times. Hi Hope you're doing well. Would love to hear from you.
This news stunned me, that Glen did not survive his surgery. We talked for the first time in many years just a few days ago, when Glen phoned to see how I was doing, since he had not received email for several days. (There was a problem at Telus.) I still have the recorded message that Glen left on my voicemail. With his pending surgery, he was more concerned about my health. I think this is a classic example of just what a selfless, good guy Glen was. We worked together in various sections over many years and enjoyed passing email back and forth after we retired, but there was not much opportunity to visit. I am genuinely going to miss him, and really appreciate reconnecting right before the end. Glen was a nice man and good friend. Sincere condolences to Glen's family.
I am so sorry to hear of Glen's passing. He was so special, memories include riding on the back of his gorgeous bike to hanging out at the Cecil with the guys singing the Rodeo song. Hang on to all your special memories- you were so lucky to have this man in your lives, Love to all, Sherry
Glen was one of the first cops that I worked with when I joined the then CPF in 1971, what a mentor he was! Always positive and upbeat and we had many conversations at the Haysboro station on night shift. Our paths haven't crossed for many years but I can still remember that smile regardless of the weather, rest in peace Glen.
So sorry to hear about Glen's passing. I knew Glen from playing ball against him back in the 60's and then got to know Glen better when we would meet at the Legion here in Lethbridge for our regular afternoon of darts. He loved taking my quarters when he beat me, which was often. Rest In Peace my friend.
Dear Shirley, We only knew Glen as a roommate in Foothills Hospital in Calgary for a few day and we enjoyed his wit and conversations. We were so sorry to hear of his passing. Our sincere condolences.

Jo and I are thinking of your family at this time. We will miss him by the door at Pops.
Our sincere condolences on Glen's passing. He was a great boss and a good friend to all. He exemplified what a police officer should be with a strong moral compass and an understanding of human nature. He laughed, loved and lived. Rest in Peace, my friend.
Our deepest sympathy. Let us remember the good times always. Fishing, golfing, talking, laughing, sharing stories and pictures. Fun times! Sorry I won't be able to attend November 4th. But will be thinking of all.
Sorry for your loss
I'm so very sorry to learn of Glen's passing ... he was a good man. Sending warm thoughts and prayers to you, Shirley and family. Please let your wonderful memories sustain you.
My deepest condolences and prayers.
Shirley and family Sorry to hear about Glen, but 80 years of living life to the full as he did is a pretty good run. Not likely to make it to Lethbridge for the funeral but you will be in our thoughts on November 4th. Many fond memories of our time together on the Calgary City Police Force and, particularly, the CPS basketball team where we played in the men's commercial league and many CPS "public relations" games. Take care of yourselves. Ken and Lyn McNeill
Glen Harold was my first Sergeant after I joined CPS in 1976. What a character! If this is what policing was like, I was going to love it here. And I did. The things I learned from Glen Harold stayed with me for the next 30 years. Have fun, back up your team and work hard, very hard. Thank you Glen, thanks to your family for sharing him.
