Bergen-Henegouwen, Ann Alice

June 25, 1939- September 8, 2014

Ann passed away after a brief and dignified battle with cancer in the arms of her beloved husband Leo at the age of 75 years. Ann immigrated to Canada on July 29 1956 from the Netherlands with her parents and siblings and met her soul mate and the love of her life Leo, on that very day. Ann & Leo married on November 14, 1959, and embarked on a love story that has spanned almost 55 years. Besides her loving husband Leo, Ann is survived by her children; Marg (Jim) Semple, Arnie (Carol) Bergen-Henegouwen, Char (Bob) Fisher as well as her grandchildren Kelsey (Murray) Wemp, Katie (Steve) Shier, Connor Semple, Amber Fisher & Dakota Fisher. Ann was also blessed with great grandchildren whom she adored and treasured more than words can describe; Ryker Wemp, Clara Shier & Annabel Shier. Ann is predeceased by her parents Margaret & Bernard Elfring, and an infant brother Herman. Her daughter, Susan Bergen-Henegouwen passed away in 1996. Above all else, Ann cherished her family and friends, and those who were honored to have known and love her benefited greatly from her generosity and strength of spirit. She was a loving wife and best friend to Leo, devoted Mom, doting Grammy, and ever loyal sister and friend to her large extended family and many friends. In recent years, Ann & Leo spent happy winters in Apache Junction, Arizona where they developed many more lasting friendships. We are all so blessed to have had her in our lives, and will miss her beautiful smile more than words can say. Our family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional and loving care that Ann received from the staff at St. Michael's Health Center in Lethbridge. A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bob Wallace officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: St. Michael's Foundation (Palliative Care) in memory of Ann Bergen-Henegouwen http://www.covenantlethbridge.ca/
