BERENT, EDWARD JOHN

With deepest sadness the family of EDWARD JOHN BERENT announce his passing on the morning of Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the age of 102. Pat was born in Twin Butte, Alberta on April 25, 1909, his given name was Eduard Johann Behrendt. It was his nickname Pat that stuck and is what he was known by. His beloved wife Lenora Evelyn Berent (Dahl) predeceased him on May 2, 2010; they were married for 78 years.
Pat is survived by his six children: Fay Whitlock (Bob), Don Berent (Lucille), Loretta Lyon (Ross), Gerald Berent (Kathy), Deanna Niemetz (Don) and Darrell Berent; as well as 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pat was the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his parents John and Bertha Berent (Frank), four brothers, seven sisters and one great-great grandchild. Pat and Lenora farmed in the Turin area and Pat also had a trucking business that he operated from 1945 until he was about 80 years old (he thought that was a good time to retire). They lived a quiet, peaceful life and their home was a place for family and friends to gather. Pat and Lenora’s family anticipate their resurrection to a restored paradise earth under God’s Kingdom. This was the hope they spoke about to all who would listen. Until then we will remember their love and examples of integrity and loyalty. Rest in Jehovah’s Memory the safest place you could be. A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. with Mr. Mark Thompson, officiating.
