Ben Eringfeld, beloved husband of Sini Eringfeld of Coaldale, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2012 surrounded by his family. Ben was born on March 29, 1931 in Breedenbroek, Holland. He was the second oldest child in a family of 13 children. Besides his loving wife, Sini, he is survived by seven children: Marilyn (Rob) Hansum, Cecile Dixon, Frances (Keith) Judson, Albert (Gina) Eringfeld, Angela (Ed) Ruzycki, Carmen (Chris) Little, and Patricia (Scott) Walls. He also leaves behind his 13 grandchildren: Cassandra, Alexandra, Brandon, Mya, Nigel, Noah, Gabriel, Sam, Thea, Sarah, Thomas, Taylor and Nolan. Ben is also survived by his 5 brothers and 6 sisters and is predeceased by one sister, Thea. Ben began his agriculture schooling in Holland and served two years of duty in the Dutch Air Force before coming to Canada in 1956, where he took on a few jobs. His lifelong dream was to one day own his own farm. He returned to Holland and soon met his beautiful wife whom he married in 1960. After their marriage, they immigrated to Canada where they began their life and family together. In 1965, Ben and Sini bought their farm in Coaldale and worked hard to provide for his family until 1996, when he sold the farm and retired in the Town of Coaldale. Ben was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church where he was active in the Knights of Columbus and the church choir. He had many hobbies including gardening, stained glass, painting and crossword puzzles. Most of all, Ben cherished his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. “Opa” will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayer Service, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 - 23 Street, Coaldale, AB., at 7:00 pm with Deacon Ray and Ellen Wagner officiating. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:00 am with Reverend Tomy Manjaly Celebrant. Interment to follow at Coaldale Community Cemetery.
