Barthel, Betty

Date of Service: May 13, 2020

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. Tim 4: 7-8

BETTY MARILYN BARTHEL, beloved wife of Bill, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. After a long fight with cancer she is with her Heavenly Father. Betty was raised in Nobleford by her parents Neal and Minnie Konynenbelt, with her two brothers and four sisters. She was predeceased by her siblings Alan and Tonia. She attended the Galt School of Nursing, class of 64. She married Bill Barthel in 1964 and began their married life in central Alberta before taking on the family farm, where she became the Egg Lady, in Coalhurst in 1968. They shared a wonderful life adding Susan (Rob) Oldenburger, Bob (Kim) Barthel and Brian (Monique) Barthel. She was a loving Grandma to 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mom's legacy is one of love. She gave love unconditionally and taught by example the Love of God for us.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her doctor and health care staff, especially to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre. Mom had over 60 chemo treatments and you made her feel at home. We cannot than you enough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jack Ady Centre, c/o Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation (960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1W5) or online at www.crhfoundation.ca

We also thank all the people who loved her and prayed for her. The communion of the saints is a beautiful gift.
