Barry was born on March 5th, 1942, in Ponteix, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his father Norman Leslie Willis, mother Agnes Josephine Birkedal, and his brother Norman Allan Willis.
With determination, dedication, and an unshakeable work ethic, Barry built a long and respected career at ATCO Gas, rising to the position of Sub-Foreman of Pipeline Operations. His work was a point of pride, a reflection of the steadfast character that defined him throughout his life.
On April 5th, 1969, Barry married the love of his life, Barbara Willis (née Cuthbert), in Calgary, Alberta. Together they built a wonderful life filled with love, family, and laughter.
Barry is survived by his devoted wife Barbara G. Willis; his eldest son Mitchell Robert Willis of Calgary; and his second son Mark Jeffrey Willis (Bobbi-Jo) of Lethbridge. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Edna Wellman (née Willis) (John Wellman), Linda Tollestrup (née Willis), and sister-in-law Aldis Willis (née Magnusson) in Calgary.
Barry was a “real man” in every way—proud, hardworking, and unwavering in his commitment to those he loved. A true bear of a man: big, gruff, proud, and protective, yet undeniably soft on the inside.
His deep love for his family guided everything he did, even if his warm giggle—his least “manly” trait, he’d say—told the world just how gentle his heart truly was.
He will be remembered with immeasurable love and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
