Barnett, Rodney Wayne

RODNEY (ROD) WAYNE BARNETT, beloved husband of Terry Barnett, passed away suddenly at the South Health Campus in Calgary on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the age of 65.

RODNEY (ROD) WAYNE BARNETT, beloved husband of Terry Barnett, passed away suddenly at the South Health Campus in Calgary on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the age of 65.

In addition to his loving wife, he leaves behind his son Jordan Barnett, daughters Tiffany Barnett and Kelsey (Corey) Pohl, much loved grandson Jaxon, mother-in-law Ellen Wright, brother-in- laws Monte (Verna) Wright, Brian (Patti) Wright and their families.

Rod was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Rose, brother Greg and father-in-law Harry Wright.

Rod was a devoted husband and father and was happily married to Terry for 43 years. Nothing meant more to Rod than his family. Throughout his life, Rod spent countless hours on school councils, coaching sports teams and supporting his family in numerous other endeavours.

A passion of Rod's life was slowpitch. Known to many of his teammates as 'Barney', he was a part of the team to win the inaugural Canadian Senior Men's Slowpitch Championship in 1979. This team was also inducted into both the Lethbridge and Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. After taking a number of years off to raise his family, Rod joined the Lethbridge Old Dogs Senior Men's team and won multiple medals at the Senior Games in St. George, Utah.  Much to the teasing of his family and friends, Rod was an avid Yankees fan.

After working for nearly 50 years in sales/retail, Rod retired in 2020. While waiting for Terry to retire, he started working part-time at Bridge City Chrysler until the time of his passing.

A celebration of Rod's life will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, at 1:00pm at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge, with Pat Siedlecki officiating.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Rod, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 - 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 1Z6.
