Born on April 6, 1935, in Yorkshire, England, Barb was a determined and ambitious young woman who always dreamed of becoming a secretary. Her dream took her far from home—to Singapore—where she secured a position with an English company. Her career allowed her to see the world, and eventually brought her to Canada, where she settled in Hamilton, Ontario.
It was there, while working at Slater Steel, that Barb met the love of her life, John Ketter. The two quickly became best friends, and their friendship blossomed into a love story that would last a lifetime. Barb and John were married for 55 years, and together they built a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and shared adventure.
Throughout their years together, Barb and John made many moves—living in Ontario, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and finally settling in Alberta. They made homes in Cochrane, Calgary, and eventually Lethbridge, where they spent their later years.
Barb faced a number of health challenges in recent years, but she met them all with strength, resilience, and her trademark determination. Through it all, she remained fiercely supportive of John, her constant partner and greatest love.
Barb will be remembered for her strength, her loyalty, her courage, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband John, and by many family members and friends whose lives were touched by her presence.
Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and quiet determination—a life well lived and deeply cherished. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2825 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 1:00pm. Barbara will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.
