EIRA PATRICIA MARY ARISMAN (née Dore), beloved wife of Steve Arisman of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 87 years.
Eira is survived by her children: Gayle (Leo) Durand of Lethbridge, Terri (Wayne) Smith of Lethbridge, and Rob Arisman (Barb Linsley) of Dawson Creek; grandchildren Jessica (Ryan) Durand-Kaustinen of Lethbridge, Chelsey Durand of Winnipeg, Ryan Smith (Rio Pisony) of Calgary and Alyssa and Ryan Linsley of Dawson Creek; and great-grandchildren Bransen and Brennan Kaustinen of Lethbridge. She is also survived by sisters Megan Yanosik and Elinor Carpenter.
Eira was predeceased by her parents John and Eva Dore and brother Ken Dore.
Lethbridge did not know how lucky it was when Eira Patricia-Mary Dore and her family moved here from Swift Current. Starting work at the Lethbridge Research Centre, Eira quickly started making friends in the community. This brought her to the Lethbridge Arena where the handsome right winger, Steve Arisman, caught her eye.
Their romance quickly blossomed off the ice and they were married in 1953. Hockey was always part of their life. Steve and Eira purchased season tickets to the Broncos and have been season ticket holders ever since.
The house was soon filled with the activity of their three children Gayle, Terri, and Rob and her many beloved pets. But when the grandchildren filled the house, Eira came to life. They spent summer outside making forts and blowing soap bubbles and during bad weather, all the grandkids piled into the kitchen to bake and marble eggs.
Eira was incredibly talented. She pressed flowers from her own garden for cards, painted Ukrainian eggs, spent hours crocheting towels and baby blankets and sweaters and whittled intricate wood carvings. She loved spending time in her garden, feeding the blue jays and taking care of her famous petunia tree.
She spent many hours volunteering in the Lethbridge Senior Centre boutique and loved swimming with the ladies at Aquafit each week. She placed great importance in making sure others were taken care of before herself and the entire community will miss her lively presence.

Terri, Wayne, Steve and family... Our sincere condolences on the loss of your wife and mom. She was a lovely person with an ever present smile and a kind greeting. We are thinking of you all and wishing you peace and comfort.
It is with shock and deep sadness that I received a call yesterday from Jain, another Acquafit member, telling me that Eira had suddenly passed away. My deepest sympathies to her family. Eira was a shining light to all of us at Acquafit. She will certainly be missed. I always wanted her to come and join us for different fun functions but her first priority was always her dedication to her beloved husband Steve. She was such a dedicated Soul Mate for sure. May God give your families comfort and strength in the days ahead with the loss of your precious Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. I am out of the Province at this time, otherwise I would certainly have come to Eira's Funeral Service. Blessings from Betty June Steffensen - Acquafit friend of Eira from Lethbridge.

My sincere sympathy, Steve, on your recent Loss. .
I was lucky to have known her. My sincerest condolences Steve and family.
Eira was a really big part of our LSCO family and has been for many years - and she will continue to be part of this place in our memories and stories for many more years to come! Our hearts were broken when we heard the news of her passing, and nothing feels quite right without her laugh. I know that we all felt very lucky to have her in our lives, and our volunteer team was made richer from her crafting with Adult Day Program and the unofficial counselling role that she played as a member of our Craft Boutique volunteer team. We love you, Eira (and by extension, sending our love to all family and friends who are also grieving).
Steve and Family. Sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you and your family. Doug Kryzanowski
Dear Steve and family, We were very saddened to hear of Eira's passing. We both have very fond memories of her. What an amazing woman she was. Please accept our deepest sympathy on your sad loss. Love and prayers.
My sincere sympathy to Eira's husband & family. For many years I have been a swimming Buddy of Eira's. Her spot in the pool was next to mine. We conversed about her children Grandchildren and mostly her grand dogs. She loved you all! Her specialty was to discuss Roast and toasts. I have bought her cards and blankets for gifts. She was special and I will miss her. Sincerely AnnMarie McDonald

Auntie Eira was an amazing person...I have such love for this lady and her family. I have amazing memories of sitting at her kitchen table doing all sorts of crafts with her. I was always amazed at how perfect her creations seemed to be. She taught me so much about creativity and joy. There's never enough time...Love you Eira!
