Hormoth, Anthony

March 1, 2025

ANTHONY “TONY” HORMOTH passed away peacefully with his devoted wife Rose by his side, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

Tony was first born to Ivan and Ivka Hormoth in Taber, AB on May 3, 1934. At age three, Tony and brother John moved to Port Alberni, BC where the young family set root. Here, Tony discovered his love for adventure and fishing. Seven years later, the family would return to Alberta to resettle in Iron Springs, where Tony continued grade school and life on the farm. Many unruly stories and treasured memories were made with his brother and sister Irene where work and play were mixed with sweat and laughter.

Tony graduated from Picture Butte High School and remained working on the family farm. He also drove bus for the Iron Spring school for the next four years while his father worked in Lethbridge as a carpenter. Not far away, a pretty, hard working farm gal from Turin named Rose Kubik, stole Tony’s heart and he followed her to Calgary, where she pursued her nursing degree. While working for a construction company, Tony went on to pursue a career in carpentry. He received his journeyman ticket in finishing carpentry from SAIT and married Rose on February 6th, 1960. They purchased a home in Calgary, continued their careers and started their family. Deb was born a year later, followed by Chris. In 1964, the family purchased a farm in Turin, which included irrigation, cattle and dryland. By 1969, Rob and Gina would complete their loving family. Tony worked hard and was always there to lend family and friends a hand. With Tony, the door was open, the coffee was brewing and the fish were biting somewhere. Tony retired from farming 30 years later, and he and Rose moved to Lethbridge, where they continued to reside, enjoying 65 precious years together.

Tony was actively involved in Turin Curling Club, County of Lethbridge Development Board, Fish & Game, Rural Crime Watch and Turin Community Association. He loved get-togethers with family and friends, construction projects, playing crib and pool, hunting and fishing, boating and water skiing and taking many trips near and far with the motorhome.

Tony was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Ivka Hormoth, parents-in-law Paul and Marie Kubik, son Robert Hormoth, brother John Hormoth, brothers-in-law, Ralph Harris and Paul Juhar and sister in-law Pauline Juhar. He leaves everlasting memories with his beloved wife Rose, daughter Deb (Larry) Richter, son Chris (Karen) Hormoth, daughter Gina (Denis) Thibaudeau and Willow Burke; grandchildren: Colin (Erin), Craig (Meghan), Tony, Nicole, Logan (Natasha), Alix (Chris), Robert, Madison, Jonathan, Danielle (Quinton), Nick (Tamara) and Andre (Trisha): great-grandchildren: Jackson, Carson, Daniel, Verna, Gideon, Isabella, Trystin, Gillian, Sadie, Macy and Wyatt.
