Angele was born in Edmonton, Alberta, daughter of Sylvia and Claude Cyr.
Angéle is survived by her children Janelle Simoneau, Rachelle Simoneau and Joel Simoneau; one grandchild, Walker Simoneau Brearley. She is also survived by her nine brothers and sisters, Claude Cyr, Nicole Oullette, Renée Cyr, Andre Cyr, Paul Cyr, Donald Cyr, Daniel Cyr, Julie Maillet, and Marie Cyr. As well as 28 nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by one niece.
In her younger years, Angéle and her siblings moved frequently, living in communities across Alberta and British Columbia, including Legal, High Prairie, Abbotsford, Scandia, Taber, Barnwell, Fort Saskatchewan, Cardiff Echoes, and Vulcan. Eventually, they settled in Taber, Alberta, where Angéle began working at her Matante Barb’s confectionery store. It was during this time that she discovered a deep passion for sewing.
Angéle’s talent quickly became evident and she sewed her own graduation dress and later pursued post-secondary education in sewing, fashion, and design. Her creativity and dedication to her craft lived on in the handmade quilts she gifted to each of her three children with other handmade clothing articles while raising her children. After her passing, her daughters discovered hand-knitted baby booties, lovingly made for her recently born grandson, showing a final quiet gesture of her enduring love.
A woman of great strength and resilience, Angéle went on to earn a Criminology degree from Lethbridge Community College, graduating at the top of her class with honours, all while raising three young children as a single mother. Her determination led her to a meaningful career with Correctional Service Canada, where she served with commitment and compassion for nearly 20 years. She served as a correctional parole officer at the Drumheller Penitentiary.
Outside of work, Angéle was a gifted artist and crafter, always exploring new mediums, from beadwork to gardening and beyond. She loved her dachshunds, and she often spoke of her dream to travel to Africa and feed giraffes.
Those who knew Angéle will remember her kind spirit, unwavering strength, and deep devotion to her children. Though she stood just 5 feet 1 inch tall, she was truly a force to be reckoned with.
She will be forever remembered and cherished by those who love her.
In accordance with Angéle’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

I always loved when Matante Angel came over to visit my mom. The house felt different in the best way, hearing them stay up late, laughing ang giggling like teenage girls always made me smile. Seeing my mom that happy meant so much to me. I admired Matante Angel so much for how creative and talented she was. She could turn the simplest things into something beautiful, and i was in awe of all the beadwork and crafts she made. One of my favorite memories is when we pulled out the sewing machine. She sat with me and my sister, so patient and kind, teaching us the things she loved to do. Even when it took time, she never got frustrated, she just made it fun and special. That's who she was. I also loved how she always carried herself, girly, stylish, and always beautifully put together. What I'll always remember about Matante Angel is her laughter, her creativity, and the way she filled a room with happiness. Those memories will stay with me forever. She'll always have a special place in my heart :)
I have just heard of Angele’s passing, my deepest sympathies to her family. I knew Angele through the college and we both did practicums at Lethbridge Parole and then both worked at Drum, i was only at Drum a short time and went back to Lethbridge. Just wanted to say she always spoke so highly of her children and her parents, her family meant everything to her. She was always kind, with the biggest smile and biggest heart.
What I miss most about Matante Angele is how she would have a different outfit and coloured nails for her dogs. I remember walking her dog and almost lost it and she didn't get upset. Matante Angele always loved getting her nails done and was such a beautiful and kind woman to me. Matante was truly loved and missed.
My heartfelt sympathies are extended to Angele's children and family. Angele was not only a very talented, gifted hard working young woman, she was a woman with determination and perseverance. Her beauty was a light shining in the darkness. Through her trials and struggles in life, I know Angele did her very best and ran the hard race in life, until the end. My love, heart and prayers are with all.
Angele was a wonderful influence on me as a young child. I often thought of her as a big sister, encouraging my sister and I to do hard things and spending time with us camping, sewing and playing games. I will forever be grateful for the time I had with her. My deepest condolences.
