Anderson, Leo

LEO ANDERSEN, beloved husband of Edith Andersen the mother of his children, of Picture Butte, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the age of 86 years.

He is the loving father of Mads (Tracey) Andersen of Calgary, Peder Andersen of Calgary, Susan (Rick) Thomas of Calgary and Frederik Andersen of Nobleford. He is the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren: Elaine Andersen of Calgary, Ricky Thomas of Deloraine, MB, Jennifer Thomas of Calgary, Kayla Andersen of Calgary, Reid Andersen of Calgary, Emily Andersen of Calgary and Erik Andersen of Nobleford. Leo is also the beloved great-grandfather of Ezekiel Andersen Lobo of Calgary and Ariana Thomas of Deloraine, MB.

Leo is also survived by a brother Egon Andersen and sister-in-law Mary Andersen.

He was predeceased by his father Mads Andersen, mother Frandsine Andersen (nee Sorensen), two sisters Ragnhild Andersen and Annalise (Truels) Sorensen, five brothers Vilfred (Martha) Andersen, Andreas Andersen, Leo Andersen, Villy (Ingrid) Andersen and Regnar (Mary) Andersen.

Born April 3rd, 1931 in Sejstrup, Denmark, Leo immigrated to Canada in 1956, working in the construction industry. On December 10th, 1960 Leo married Edith Wigand and together they raised five children, Walter Schwalbe, Mads, Peder, Susie and Frederik in Bowness, Calgary. In 1978 Leo and Edith started LA&E trucking and with the turn in the economy, sold the three trucks in 1983 and moved to Picture Butte, AB where he resided until his passing. Leo had a keen interest in hunting and horse riding, singing, propagating plants, birds and video editing.

Relatives and friends are invited a Funeral Service that will take place at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Frank deBoer officiating.

Following the Funeral Service, Leo will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.
