Anderson, George Elton

ELTON ANDERSON, beloved husband of Estelle Anderson of Picture Butte, passed away suddenly as a result of cancer at the St. Michael's Health Centre on Friday, September 17, 2010 at the age of 62 years. Besides his loving wife of 37 years, Elton is survived by his children Ryan (Amanda) Anderson of Picture Butte, and Tyler (Shannon) Anderson of Airdrie as well as grandson Ben. He is also survived by brother Edward Anderson of Picture Butte, sister Marilyn (Les) Koyata of Cochrane, mother in law Jeanne Leclair, 8 brothers-in-law, 7 sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Erma and father in law Eugene. Elton had a wide variety of careers from welding, to hospital administration and in his retirement he enjoyed grounds keeping at the Picture Butte golf course. He was involved in many clubs and organizations and served as town councillor and the Mayor of Picture Butte. He enjoyed his family and friends, camping, sports, his touring bike and his many hobbies. Elton will be especially remembered for being a loyal and sincere husband, brother, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend. A special thanks to all of the wonderful staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care for their care and support. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. CATHERINE'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue North, Picture Butte, Alberta, on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Tomy Manjaly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made in Elton's name to the St. Michael's Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 1400-9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5.
