Allan Andrew Higginson was born to Ivan and Gudrun Higginson. He passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Allan’s departure to heaven reflected his life, surrounded by his family, until his very last breath. A devoted family man, Allan joins his mother and father, his brother Ed, and his first wife, Linda. He is survived by his wife Gay, children: Lindyl (Peter) Pankonin, Lorne Higginson, Chris (Michelle) Higginson, CJ (Tracey) Malacko, Brad (Kelly) Malacko, Broc (Steph) Higginson, Tara (Rob) Slavich, and Nicole (Ben) Swen. Allan’s legacy extends to his beautiful grandchildren: Richelle, Jeffrey, Jayson, Dillon, Carter, Haley, Jessica, Kyran, Laura, Aaron, Gracie, Emma, Kale, Brinley, Paige, Kayla, William, and Lily. His guidance and love lives on in his seven great- grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Allan is also survived by his siblings: Dick (Norma) Higginson, Roy (Linda) Higginson, Lois (Bob) Bullock, Dennis Higginson, Bruce (Andie) Higginson, and his sister-in-law, Sharon Higginson.
Allan, affectionately known as Grandad or Higgy, lived his life for his family; never missing a concert, sporting event, or dinner (especially if chocolate cake or pie was on the menu). A man of few words, no one questioned his love and affection as he made space for every addition to the family, even those ‘pesky’ in-laws. He taught his family to value hard work and kindness, all while reminding them of the importance of a good laugh. A successful banker, Allan worked his way up the ladder, ending his career as a Regional Manager for CIBC. Despite his success, Allan lived a humble life and used his blessings to help his family and others; he truly believed in paying it forward. His giving nature was a trait he shared with his loving wife, Gay. Their love for each other, and devotion to their family and friends, leaves a legacy that will continue on forever.
It is impossible to sum-up the profound impact that he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him. As a result, the family would love for those who knew Allan to honour his memory through random acts of kindness. Any time you help a friend, neighbour, or stranger, picture Allan up in heaven with a golf club in hand, a crib game planned for the near future, a puzzle in the works, a book on his side table, and a cheeky grin on his face.
The family of Allan Higginson invites relatives and friends to attend an evening of fellowship and closure in Allan’s honour in the Fireside Room at CHRIST THE REDEEMER ANGLICAN CHURCH, 2820 – 18 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a short program to start at 6:00 P.M.
In memory of Allan, please honour him by doing a random act of kindness for someone in need.
